Our story

Built by people who
live on the sideline.

StatsGuy exists because the tools statisticians have been handed for the last three decades are embarrassingly bad — and nobody was fixing them.

For decades, football statisticians at every level — high school, college, semi-pro, and broadcast — relied on the same handful of DOS-era desktop applications. These programs were groundbreaking in the early 1990s. By 2020, they required compatibility shims, virtual machines, or specific hardware just to run. On modern Windows, they often don't run at all.

The workflows those programs pioneered — rapid play entry, automatic down tracking, complete box score generation — were genuinely good. Statisticians built muscle memory around them over years of use. The problem was never the idea. The problem was that the execution was frozen in 1994 and nobody had shipped a real replacement.

StatsGuy is that replacement. It runs in any browser, on any device, from the press box or the sideline. It preserves the keyboard-driven speed that experienced statisticians depend on and adds everything those programs could never do: real-time multi-user access, REST API output, Google Sheets integration, and cloud storage that doesn't live on a fragile local hard drive.

Football only — on purpose.

A lot of sports statistics platforms try to cover every sport with a one-size-fits-all data model. The result is a system that does nothing particularly well for any sport. Football has unique complexity — formation data, air yards, YAC, personnel groupings, blitz counts, drive charts — that generic platforms ignore or bolt on as afterthoughts.

StatsGuy is built specifically for American football. Every field, every workflow, every report was designed with football in mind. We support six rule sets: NCAA, NFHS (high school), NFL/Pro, CFL, Arena Football, and Indoor/Semi-Pro. If you're keeping football stats, StatsGuy does it right.

Your data, your way.

Every StatsGuy subscription is a completely isolated instance. Your data is not shared with other subscribers, not mixed into a communal pool, and not used for anything except serving you. You can pull everything out at any time via the REST API or Google Sheets export.

We're also building toward broadcast and scoreboard integration — so the same data you collect at the press box can feed on-screen graphics, live scoreboards, and websites without any manual re-entry.
